From docks to campsites, homes to businesses, and everything in between, roads connect us from one place to another around the Lake. The same infrastructure supports the economic growth of the area, too. 

Major roads and transportation corridors surrounding the lake include US Highway 81 and South Dakota Highway 28. Minor roads surrounding the lake may need improvements to provide better connectivity between major roadways and local stops. 

Repairs and improvements to all roadways and transportation corridors may be required to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians, too. The roadway infrastructure around Lake Poinsett presents some unique challenges: they must support both the rigors of winter maintenance and sudden influxes in traffic during the height of tourism season. The future of roads and transportation surrounding Lake Poinsett is important to the development of the community, and the Lake Poinsett Management Plan provides an opportunity to make positive changes in our roads.
